Facebook Events

Updated: Oct 6, 2020

Events give people an opportunity to engage with your business in person.

∙ Businesses use Facebook Events to promote:

∙ Comedy and music performances

∙ Sporting events

∙ Tours

∙ Upcoming product releases

∙ Sales events and trade shows

∙ Fundraisers

∙ And more

Steps to create a private Facebook event from Desktop

1. Go to your page and click Events in the left menu.

2. Click + Create Event on the left side.

3. Add a Photo/video to represent your event

Here are a few things to consider

∙ Choose a photo or video of dimensions 1200x628 pixels

∙ Keep the Videos between 30 seconds and the limit of 5 minutes

∙ Try to avoid text in your visual

∙ If you don't select a photo or video, your Page's cover photo will be used.

4. Fill in the event name and location (Type in the complete address)

5. Set Up Date, Time and Frequency

∙ The frequency determines whether this is a one-time event or a recurring event. If this is a recurring event with an irregular schedule, choose Custom.

∙ For an event that happens once, like a grand opening, a holiday concert, or an opening reception at an art gallery, choose the “Occurs Once” option.

6. Give people a clear idea of what type of event this is by choosing a category (like comedy or music).

7. Then, add a description. You can include information like where to park, whether the event will be indoors or outdoors, and other important details.

You'll be able to edit this later if details change or you need to provide more information.

8. Add key words if you want Facebook to recommend your event to people who are interested in that topic.

9. Add Co Hosts and ticket link if applicable.

10. Once you're happy with your event, you can publish it immediately by clicking the Publish button or schedule a time to publish your event by clicking the upside-down triangle button to the right of Publish and selecting Schedule. You'll be taken to your event where you can invite guests, upload photos, add a cover photo or video, share posts and edit event details.

Note: If you’re collaborating with other people, you can save the draft you’ve created and share it with your team before you publish your event publicly.

Manage event details

1. To manage your event, go to Publishing Tools and choose Events from the left-side menu

2. With Publishing Tools, you can publish, edit, and update events from one spot. This includes, scheduling events to publish, duplicating past events, and more.

Measure the success of your event

Use Page Insights to learn how people are responding to your event and measure it against what you've been for past events.

Page Insights provide metrics that can help you measure awareness and ticket sales, and also show the demographics of people you're reached.

You'll see information for your event ads as well as your organic (unpaid) event posts.

Page Insights

∙ Go to your Page

∙ Click On Events tab on left menu

∙ Choose your event by clicking on it

∙ Click on Insights on the right side on your Event Page.

You'll see insights like how many people you've reached, how many views your event has, and how many people have responded.
